Public Domain Burn

Overview

The Public Domain Burn (PD Burn for short) campaign aims to build a database of public domain works, locate copies of PD works and then burn them -- and to make all of this fun!.

How it will work:

  • People add information about artistic works to the web site
  • People trawl through their own collections, car boot sales, library index cards, etc in order to get this information as well as to find copies of the works to burn
  • People burn the works and upload them to a service such as archive.org with a link from the pd burn site to the digital copy. Organize 'burning parties' where people get together and burn PD works with an annual early january party for new works that have just entered the public domain.
  • Ratings are provided to encourage people to contribute ("I've submitted the most this week!").
